Hello friends and happy Thursday!
One of the rooms in my home that has been bothering me for quite a while now is the master bathroom. I feel like I've finally got a certain style going on throughout the home but that this room never felt quite right.
Every bedroom in our home as two windows on opposite walls. Which is great for light in most of the rooms except my bedroom - which has a north and west facing window. Not a lot of bright sunshine comes in and so the space tends to feel a bit dull and dark.
I was contemplating getting a new bed, thinking that the dark gray was what was making the room feel dull, and especially since I'm head over heels in love with the light and bright makeover the guest room got before the holidays.
But finally, after weeks of lying in bed and staring at them, I realized the paint color on the walls was what was bothering me.
You see - I put a LOT of thought into the paint colors in my home before we had them painted. But in typical mom fashion, I left my own room until last and didn't have time to really think it through. Instead of sticking with the same colors that we chose for the other rooms (and knowing they would work) I decided to pick a darker shade (Behr's Light French Gray) of one of my favorite paint colors - Reflecting Pool - knowing that it was a beautiful color. Well, it is a beautiful color. But it's too blue in a space that's not at all warm.
And so here we are.
But alas! I have recently discovered the perfect light gray and that I already own an entire gallon of. Which means I don't have to trek out with two kiddos to buy paint and I don't have to sample it on my walls and it didn't cost me a dime :-)
What is this fabulous paint color you ask? Benjamin Moore's Paper White. Yup, the same Paper White that we used in our Bathroom Remodel. And because the bathroom is on the same side of the house as my bedroom, I know exactly how it plays with the light!
Isn't it pretty?
And dare I say, it's even nicer in my bedroom!
Paper White is one of those paint colors that looks white while you're painting it on, but dries to a really beautiful light gray. You definitely need crisp white trim to show it off and I've even gone as far as to add new white bedding, new white lamps and a new fluffy white rug.
I really can't believe how much brighter this room looks nice. It finally feels warm, which is super important to me in a bedroom, and just has the feeling that I want.
The room's not even remotely finished yet. I still need to find new curtains and get rid of the blue quilt at the end of the bed, possibly in favor of something dark gray. I'm thinking it needs more texture...so maybe velvet? I'm also in search of new bed sheets (the current ones are cheap flannel ones from Kohls - but they are pretty nice to sleep on!) and maybe some accessories for the nightstands.
I did art new framed pictures over the bed, since the previous artwork was pillaged from here for the updated guest bedroom. I have to say I like having my family photos up here much better, plus I love those wooden frames from Target.
I'll keep you updated on Instagram with all my new purchases to make sure you're following along!
