Remember when I had this epic fail stenciling my Billy Bookcases? So many of you commented and sent emails telling me that they looked great. I really have the sweetest readers! I just couldn't live with them though. I'm a perfectionist by nature and they were driving me crazy as soon as I finished them.
I knew I still wanted the back of the bookcases to have the same sort of stenciled "effect"...without me having to ever touch a stencil again. Luckily for me, I came across a roll of this stuff at HomeGoods (where else!?!)
A perfect bookcase backing if ever I saw it! I took it home and modge-podged it to the backing that I had messed up:
Looks so much better right? I had to wait for Hubby to get home to help me pull up the backing on the right side of the bookcase. It was really stuck!
Using some 99c a foot trim, I beefed up the bookcase a little:
I also added trim to hide the seam between the two bookcases, but forgot to take a picture (bad blogger!).
I caulked the edges and painted everything Valspar's Dove White. I actually overlapped the paint onto the shelves so that it blended properly.
I'm not finished styling it, but I love it already! Obligatory before and after shot? Yes, please!
I think I've redeemed myself! Stenciling mishap, you did NOT get the best of me!!!!
What do you guys think? Big improvement on my last attempt at Billys? Have you redeemed yourself on any project fixes lately? Spill the beans in the comments section!
