For those of you that don’t know, I’m a fifth grade teacher by day (blog lady by night!). This week has been a tough one so I haven’t had a chance to work on many projects. The kids had their step-up day yesterday. You’d think going to a new school and meeting new teachers would make even the hardest 5th graders quiver in their shoes for an hour. Yup, you’d think. My little beauties were droppin’ F bombs and profanities all over the place. Ahhh…yes, I taught them well! (I hope you can sense my uber sarcasm here.)
Anyhow, between dealing with the above situation, editing my end of year movie and writing report cards, I’m EXHAUUUSTED! The only thing I’ve been up to over the past week is tending to my backyard.
Let’s recap on the sorry state of my yard a month ago:
No miracles have happened since then. The Adirondacks and the lounger are still on the patio that needs to be weeded/completed re-done. However, I did extend the garden the entire perimeter of the back yard:
I split a bunch of day-lillies and planted them. Hopefully they won’t die! I also transplanted some other flowers that were too big for the original bricked-in part of the garden.
Once we get mulch in next week it will all start to look a bit tidier. I might even get enough energy to knock down the brick wall around the original garden for a more cohesive look.
A more long-term goal for the backyard is to get something to cover the chain link fence. Completely replacing it with vinyl privacy fencing would be aesthetically ideal but not financially ideal. I’m thinking of buying vinyl lattices. Have any of you overcome this problem in your yards in an economical way?
