Simple Orange Butter

Orange butter is a simple but delicious sweet and zesty compound butter that’s perfect for spreading over scones, toast or pancakes.

There’s nothing better than a freshly baked Irish scone. Except for a freshly baked Irish scone with orange butter slathered all over it. This compound butter is perfectly sweet and zesty, and you’re going to want to put it on everything once you make it for the first time.

Use The Best Quality Butter

The quality of butter that you use in any compound butter recipe like this one, or even my savory favorite – garlic herb butter, does play large part in how good it will taste. Your regular cheap supermarket butter tastes so bland compared to a rich, grassfed butter. I only buy Kerrygold, which is an Irish imported butter. It’s what I grew up eating so I’m pretty thrilled that I can buy it in the U.S.

If you only have regular butter, this recipe is still plenty delicious. But you know, if you’re feeling fancy maybe opt for the better butter!

It’s so quick to make!

This orange butter takes only a couple of minutes to make, then all you have to do is roll it up and let it firm up again in the fridge. So easy!

It tastes amazing on my aforementioned scones, but also on toast, muffins or even pancakes!
