If you’re tired of staring at a black box on the wall, you’re not alone. That’s exactly why I chose the Samsung Frame TV—and why I now own two of them. This isn’t just any television. It’s a design-forward solution for anyone who wants their TV to blend in, not stand out.
In this review, I’m sharing my honest thoughts after using both the 2021 and 2024 versions of the Frame TV, including its pros, cons, whether it’s really worth the money, and why I still recommend it—despite the splurge.

Why I Bought the Frame TV (and Why It Might Be Right for You)
- Art Mode is the game-changer. Instead of a black screen, your TV displays art when you’re in the room.
- Motion sensor saves energy. The artwork only turns on when someone is present.
- The magnetic frame makes it customizable to your design style.
- Perfect for living rooms, bedrooms, and open-concept spaces where a regular TV would be an eyesore.

How to Add Art to the Samsung Frame TV Without a Subscription
Samsung offers a $4.99/month Art Store subscription with over 1,500 digital artworks.
My honest opinion? It’s not worth it.
Instead, I buy digital art on Etsy—it’s cheaper, better quality, and fits my style. You can get gorgeous high-resolution images for $2 to $10, download them, and set them as your Frame TV artwork in minutes.
- More variety than Samsung’s options
- Budget-friendly—no monthly fees
- Easy to swap out for different seasons & moods

Is the Matte Display Worth Upgrading For?
While my 2021 Frame TV was great, my newer 2024 model has a matte, anti-glare finish, and the difference is huge.
If your TV is near a window or in a bright space, this is a big upgrade—it makes the artwork look even more realistic without screen glare.
- Best for rooms with lots of natural light
- Looks more like a real framed art piece

Frame TV Picture Quality: Good Enough for Everyday Use?
If you want the absolute best picture or sound quality, this is not the TV for you.
Don’t get me wrong—the picture is good, and the sound is fine, but for the same price, you can find TVs with better specs.
But here’s the thing: I didn’t buy The Frame TV for its sound or screen tech. I bought it because it looks stunning on my wall—and that’s what makes it worth it for me.
Jenna’s tip
The Frame TV will most likely go on sale during Black Friday and Cyber Monday as well as Amazon Prime Day at a significantly reduced price. If you’re planning on getting one, that’s the best time to snag a deal!
Mounting the Frame TV: Tips for Hiding the One Connect Box
One of the best design features is the included no-gap wall mount—it sits flush against the wall, making it look like a real framed piece of art.
BUT… There’s one thing you have to plan for: The One Connect Box. This hides all the cables but needs a place to go.

My solution:
I’m lucky to have built-ins, so I ran the thin, clear wire behind the wall and hid the One Connect Box in a cabinet.
If you don’t have built-ins? Try a decorative basket or storage box to conceal it while keeping it accessible.

Custom Bezel Frames: Beautiful, but Not Included
One thing Instagram doesn’t tell you?
- The gorgeous frames you see in photos? They don’t come with the TV (unless you buy the bundle).
- Out of the box, The Frame TV is just black plastic (not so cute).
- Custom magnetic bezels = $150-$250 extra (and often sell out in popular colors).
If you want the seamless, built-in art look, factor in this extra cost.
Samsung Frame TV Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Displays art instead of a black screen
- Matte screen looks like real artwork
- Customizable frame bezels to match decor
- No-gap wall mount included
- Perfect for design-conscious living spaces
Cons:
- Pricey compared to similar-spec TVs
- Artwork subscription isn’t great
- Custom frames cost extra
Final Verdict: Is the Samsung Frame TV Worth It in 2025?
For me, YES—because I care more about aesthetics than specs.
- If your TV is a focal point in a stylish space, The Frame TV is worth it.
- If you want the best screen & sound for your money, there are better options.
Would I buy one for my kids’ basement playroom? Absolutely not. But for my main living areas? I’d buy it again in a heartbeat.
What do you think? Would you choose The Frame TV for your home, or would you go with a traditional TV? Let me know!
